Dengue is on the rise , lets fight against dengue !

Singapore has stepped up its fight against dengue by breeding special mosquitos. 5 million mosquitoes artificially infected with Wolbachia bacteria are bred at the Singapore facility each week. In the wild, the lab-raised males mate with females, producing eggs that don’t hatch. The programme aims to help the city-state slash its mosquito population, Nearly 15,000 dengue cases were reported in Singapore in the first 11 months of 2019. That’s 5 times more than the number reported over the same period in 2018.
Any reduction in mosquito numbers helps lower the risk of dengue infections.
